It's about time for me to start a journal, since my english capability seems to be degrading in such rapid manners. My American accent has gone down to zero as my host mom has predicted it, and it has only been a year since. This is unnerving.

Another reason is because so many information run throungh my head all day, and I'm starting to find it difficult to maintain those information without so much headache. lol There are so many issues I feel like I need to talk about or make a point with, or even get it out of me. But, see, I'm not the sort of person who likes talking so much unless it's a really interesting conversation.

I dont' laugh about the silly jokes I used to laugh. I don't enjoy sitting at lunch and just let time flies, while listening to my friends going over the casual general everyday topics. Some how I stopped watching TV and reading the glossy pages of beauty magazines. I spend time dreaming about a better society or how things could creatively change. I spend time wishing to be in the places far beyond, or just somewhere I could feel fresh, alive and free.
I felt that I'm being locked in conformity, traditions and conservation.
The sad part is I'm still scared of the roads unknown to me.

A friend of mine sent me this and I found it really true. It's just the way I feel about today's generations. How could we ever managed to stay focused or stay good and caring, when we have to race with everything. You've just learned how to use blog one day and the next day you turn on the TV and... whoah! A 10 yr-old kid could make himself a whole website in less than an hour. A really great idea poped up and you were hoping to be the first one with it, you turn on the computer and... crap! Someone has already done it.
I mean, nowadays that we're all connected with the internet. You are racing with, perhaps, the whole world populations and there are 6.6 billions of them.

I sat down with all three of my cool univerity professors over dinner with a guy who was giving us a lecture on graphic design and Adobe's 3 major programs: photoshop, illustrator and Indesign. I dont' know much about this because I didn't go to this lecture since I didn't know there was still a lecture. So I sat on and bore myself when some people were getting this one time entertaining education. Anyway, this guy who was giving us a lecture is actually not just a guy, but a really cool guy. A guy who talks deep into matters and who is not afraid of offending or getting offended, which seems pretty cool for me who is being too little daring on any confrontation. I wish I could be half as good on standing my grounds.

The Pygmalion effect, Rosenthal effect, or more commonly known as the "teacher-expectancy effect" refers to situations in which students perform better than other students simply because they are expected to do so. The Pygmalion effect requires a student to internalise the expectations of their superiors. It is a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy, and in this respect, students with poor expectations internalise their negative label, and those with positive labels succeed accordingly. Within sociology, the effect is often cited with regards to education and social class.

The effect is named after George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion, in which a professor makes a bet that he can teach a poor flower girl to speak and act like an upper-class lady, and is successful.

Pygmalion is a 1938 British film based on George Bernard Shaw's play of the same name, and adapted by him for the screen. Ian Dalrymple, Anatole de Grunwald and Kay Walsh also made uncredited contributions to the screenplay. The film was a financial and critical success, and won a number of Oscars. Shaw's adaptation differs from his original play in that a ballroom scene was added and the ending changed - a surprising decision, given his previous insistence that the play's original ending remain intact.

Wendy Hiller was chosen by Shaw to play Eliza Doolittle after she had appeared in stage productions of Pygmalion and Saint Joan. The controversial line "Not bloody likely!" made her the first person to utter that swear word in a British film. The screenplay was later adapted into the 1956 theatrical musical My Fair Lady, which in turn led to the 1964 film of the same name.

Solaris (Russian: Солярис, Solyaris) is a 1972 Russian film directed by Andrei Tarkovsky. It is based on the novel Solaris by Polish science fiction author Stanisław Lem. The film features Natalya Bondarchuk, Donatas Banionis, Jüri Järvet, Nikolai Grinko and Anatoly Solonitsyn and has a soundtrack by Eduard Artemyev.

Solaris is a meditative psychodrama that is set mostly on a space station in orbit around the planet-like object called "Solaris". The scientific mission on the space station has fallen into a crisis. Psychologist Kris Kelvin travels to the station to evaluate and explore the situation, but soon experiences the same kind of hallucinations that have befallen the other crew members. The film concentrates on the thoughts and the conscience of its characters and is a "drama of grief and partial recovery". Solaris and its complex and slow storytelling has sometimes been compared to Western science fiction films, which rely on special effects and an imagined version of the future.^[1]

Solaris was a critical success and is widely regarded as one of Tarkovsky's best works. The film was presented at the Cannes Film Festival and won the Grand Prix Spécial du Jury and the FIPRESCI prize and was nominated for the Palme d'Or. Another film adaption of the novel by Stanisław Lem was released in 2002 under the name Solaris, directed by Steven Soderbergh.

The Namesake is a 2007 film which received a limited release in the United States on March 9, 2007. It has been screened at film festivals in Toronto and New York.

It is directed by Mira Nair and is based upon the novel The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri who appeared in the movie. Sooni Taraporevala adapted the novel to a screenplay.

The Namesake describes the struggles between two first generation Indian immigrants, from West Bengal, to the United States, Ashima Ganguli (Tabu) and Ashoke Ganguli (Irfan Khan), and their children, Gogol (Kal Penn) and Sonali (Sonia) (Sahira Nair). The featured locales are Kolkata, India, New York City, Yonkers, and the New York City suburbs of Nyack, Rockland County, Scarsdale, Westchester County and Oyster Bay, Long Island.

The Darjeeling Limited is a drama-comedy film directed by Wes Anderson, and starring Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, and Jason Schwartzman. It was written by Anderson, Schwartzmann, and Roman Coppola. The film also stars Waris Ahluwalia, Amara Karan, Barbet Schroeder and Anjelica Huston, with Natalie Portman, Irfan Khan and Bill Murray in cameo roles.

Chris Cabin of Filmcritic.com gave the film 4 stars out of 5 and described Anderson's film as "the auteur's best work to date."^[9] Entertainment Weekly film critic Lisa Schwarzbaum gave the film a "B+" and said "This is psychological as well as stylistic familiar territory for Anderson after Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums. But there's a startling new maturity in Darjeeling, a compassion for the larger world that busts the confines of the filmmaker's miniaturist instincts."^[10] Armond White of the New York Press said that the film "is so reflective of personal experience (within the context of rarefied pop antecedents) that it returns common emotional power to today’s fragmented, disingenuous popular culture.."^[11] A.O. But it is also a treasure: an odd, flawed, but nonetheless beautifully handmade object as apt to win affection as to provoke annoyance. You might say that it has sentimental value."

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (aka Dr. Strangelove) (1964) is a black comedy film directed by Stanley Kubrick and starring Peter Sellers and George C. Scott. Loosely based by screenwriter Terry Southern on Peter George's Cold War thriller novel Red Alert (aka Two Hours to Doom), Dr. Strangelove satirizes the Cold War and the doctrine of mutual assured destruction.

The story concerns a mentally unstable US Air Force general who orders a first strike nuclear attack on the Soviet Union, and follows the President of the United States, his advisors, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and a Royal Air Force (RAF) officer as they try to recall the bombers to prevent a nuclear apocalypse, as well as the crew of one B-52 as they attempt to deliver their payload.

In 1989, the United States Library of Congress deemed the film "culturally significant" and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry. Additionally, it was listed as #3 on AFI's 100 Years... 100 Laughs.

Once is a 2007 Irish musical film written and directed by John Carney. Set in Dublin, this naturalistic drama stars musicians Glen Hansard (of popular Irish rock band The Frames) and Markéta Irglová as struggling musicians. Collaborators prior to making the film, Hansard and/or Irglová composed and performed all but one of the original songs in the movie.^[1]

Shot for only €130,000 ($160,000),^[2] the film was very successful,^[3] earning substantial per-screen box office averages in the United States.^[4] It received extremely enthusiastic reviews^[5]^[6] and awards such as the 2008 Independent Spirit Award for best foreign film. The Savages is a 2007 American comedy-drama film, written and directed by Tamara Jenkins. It stars Philip Seymour Hoffman and Laura Linney and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

After drifting apart emotionally over the years, two single siblings — Wendy (Linney) and Jon (Hoffman) — must band together to care for an elderly parent, Lenny (Philip Bosco), who is rapidly slipping into dementia and who has been estranged from them for many years. Wendy and Jon first travel to Sun City, Arizona, to get Lenny once his common-law wife dies. They move him to a nursing home in Buffalo, New York, where Jon is a theater professor working on a book about Bertolt Brecht. Wendy, who is an aspiring, but unsuccessful, playwright, moves from New York City to help establish their father in Buffalo.

Neither is close with Lenny, who is said to have been a difficult man to live with. (It is implied that he was a psychically and emotionally abusive father.) Their dysfunctional family life appears to have left Wendy and Jon emotionally crippled and unable to sustain a relationship. She is sleeping with an unattainable married man 13 years her senior and he cannot commit to a Polish woman who must return to Krakow after her visa expires.

Their visits to the nursing home and their father's eventual death allow them to reevaluate their lives and to grow emotionally. In the end, Wendy is seen working on the production of her play about their terrible childhood and Jon is off to a conference in Poland where it's suggested he may reconnect with the woman he'd let go.

8½ (Italian: Otto e mezzo) is a 1963 film written and directed by Italian director Federico Fellini. It is regularly acclaimed by film critics as one of the finest films ever made; it consistently ranks in the "top ten best movies ever" lists by cinema institutes and academies; in a recent poll of film directors conducted by the British Film Institute, 8½ was ranked 3rd best film of all time.^[1] The film was shot in black-and-white by influential and innovative cinematographer Gianni di Venanzo, and features a soundtrack by Nino Rota.

The plot revolves around an Italian film director, Guido Anselmi (Marcello Mastroianni), who is suffering from "director's block." He is supposed to be directing an ill-defined science fiction film but has lost interest amid artistic and marital difficulties. As Guido struggles half-heartedly to work on the film, a series of flashbacks and dreams delve into his memories and fantasies; they are frequently interwoven with reality.

2001: A Space Odyssey is a 1968 science fiction film directed by Stanley Kubrick, written by Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke. The film deals with thematic elements of human evolution, technology, artificial intelligence, and extraterrestrial life, and is notable for its scientific realism, pioneering special effects, ambiguous and often surreal imagery, sound in place of traditional narrative techniques, and minimal use of dialogue.

The Color of Pomegranates (originally released in the Armenian SSR as Սայաթ-Նովա, Sayat Nova) is a 1968 motion picture by the Soviet-Armenian director Sergei Parajanov, considered a masterpiece by Federico Fellini, Jean-Luc Godard and Michelangelo Antonioni.^{[citation needed]} It was censored and banned in the Soviet Union but made the top 10 list in Cahier Du Cinema in 1982 and Top 100 in Time Out.

Sergei Parajanov's "Color of the Pomegranate", a biography of the Armenian ashug Sayat Nova (King of Song), reveals the poet's life more through his poetry than a conventional narration of important events in Sayat Nova's life. The movie shows the poet growing up, discovering the female forms, falling in love, entering a monastery and dying. But these incidents are depicted in the context of what are images from Sergei Parajanov's imagination and Sayat Nova's poems, poems that are seen and rarely heard. Sofiko Chiaureli plays 6 roles, both male and female, and Sergei Parajanov, works on virtually every aspect of this film, void of any dialog or camera movement.^{[citation needed]}

His inspiration, he said, was "the Armenian illuminated miniatures. I wanted to create that inner dynamic that comes from inside the picture, the forms and the dramaturgy of colour."

Barry Lyndon (1975) is an award-winning period film by Stanley Kubrick based on the novel The Luck of Barry Lyndon (1844) by William Makepeace Thackeray. It recounts the exploits of an unscrupulous 18th century Irish adventurer (Barry Lyndon né Redmond Barry), particularly his rise and fall within English society. Ryan O'Neal stars as the title character.

In recent years, it has come to be regarded not only as one of Kubrick's finest films, but indeed as a classic of world cinema. They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but we still think some folks will never be able to appreciate true talent. Well, at least when it’s spray painted on the side of their buildings.
Yes, some of Banksy’s Los Angeles street art is being painted over as we speak. We understand not everyone can appreciate the dopeness that is Banksy, but we can’t help but chuckle to ourselves about the irony of the situation. What building owners see as an eyesore are really the fruits of labor from a legend whose work sells for more than their whole building is probably worth. Suckas.

My first memory of primary school was me running around with other kids in the playground at lunch time break. I don't remember why, but some how I knew right then that I'm different. Something told me I didn't belong. Maybe, it was because I didn't understand at all why they did things they did or why they don't do things they don't.

My parents were different too. They are not the type of people who managed to hold on to friends.
My biggest ambition has always been to fit it and to have a huge group of friends.
I remember trying so hard.
I still have no friends.
Actually I could say I have no one.
or that I have none.

Countless times, I ask myself why. "Why?" Why should I be the odd one?

As naive as I was, I used to believe my soul was so pure and as clear as crystal. I believe in the goodness in me. I was taught to give and to believe in the goodness of people. I was taught to help and to support. I was teach to do so many good things which now I've forgotten all. Those beautiful lessons that fell to the side as I walked the years.

I believe I was about 8 or something when reality hit me as hard as a car crash. I shouldn't give money to those poor people I see on the streets because they are all liars. Even ones who looked like they really-really needed help are just liars who are great performer. Right then I had a theory of my own that there much be someone in the crowd who actually need help. What if no one helps that person. Well, I said to myself that when I grow up to the point when I can make my own decision I'll give money to people who needs it as long as I don't go troubling myself. And guess what. I'm now 20 and still repeating that sentence over and over.

I feel guilty every time I walked pass a beggar and didn't give out any money. But when a thought comes in my head to reach in my pocket for some money, I wiped it out of my head so fast, shake my head and say to myself that it's normal and right not to give money to beggar and I'm so cowardly disturbed by the thought of not being as normal or as right.

I stopped supporting other people when I was in high school. I learn from my parents and their co-workers and my friends and their friends that in the end we all support ourselves first. As much as I care to give what is best to you, bottom line is my trouble is meaningless to you when your ass was not saved first. I learn when you're nice and have faith in people you get used. Then I learn I should use people so I won't be unjustified by only getting used by others.

I'm now sitting here at 20, thinking what kind of a person I've grown up to be, then I realized, I've grown up to be the normal typical adult that I hated so much when I was little. Those selfish people who I doubt if they ever spend time studying morals and religious.

And some how I hate myself...and some how... I just shrug

The story goes that some time ago, a man punished his 3-year-old daughter for wasting a roll of gold wrapping paper. Money was tight and he became infuriated when the child tried to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree. Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift to her father the next morning and said, "This is for you, Daddy."

The man was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but his anger flared again when he found out the box was empty. He yelled at her, stating, "Don't you know, when you give someone a present, there is supposed to be something inside? The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and cried, "Oh, Daddy, it's not empty at all. I blew kisses into the box. They're all for you, Daddy."

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and he begged for her forgiveness.

Only a short time later, an accident took the life of the child. It is also told that her father kept that gold box by his bed for many years and, whenever he was discouraged, he would take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there.

In a very real sense, each one of us, as humans beings, have been given a gold container filled with unconditional love and kisses... from our children, family members, friends, and God. There is simply no other possession, anyone could hold, more precious than this.

15 minutes passed, I'm packing my bag for the day.
10 minutes passed, looking for things I don't remember where I last put it.
My dad yelled "hurry up!" as I ran down the stairs.
5 minutes for breakfast but it was 11.40
Put on my shoes and at last I was ready.
No, not quite.
The shoes didn't fit right.
Another 5 minutes passed, I'm now in the car.
1 hour and a half for Bangkok's traffic.
On the way, dad was giving me shit.
